LAURA COHOLAN is an educator based in South Los Angeles. After growing up in Canada, she moved to South Los Angeles in 2011, when she studied politics, public policy and social entrepreneurship at the University of Southern California.
An intersectional feminist, yogi and long-time vegetarian/vegan, Laura’s beliefs in social and animal equity have lead her to develop a career in these fields.
Laura has participated in harm reduction programs on Skid Row, facilitated workshops for incarcerated women through the Prison Education Project, developed and delivered curriculum to help people with privilege understand structural and systemic oppression, and taught or volunteered in K-12 education in urban schools for over twelve years.
She is deeply committed to grassroots civic participation and volunteers her time with local civil rights and social justice organizations that aim to create systemic political change in our community.
When not keeping busy in the community, Laura is either urban gardening or spending time with her three (yes, three!) rescue cats.
