DESCRIPTION:Trauma Informed Learning Alliance (TILA) is celebrating its 10th anniversary\, marking a milestone as we reach 2024. We celebrate having the honor to have served the Los Angeles community for the last decade. TILA has prioritized the global theme of community healing and liberation through storytelling and access to equitable resources. TILA continues to engage in initiatives that support partnerships\, common goals\, and topics that foster community resilience. Therefore\, in recognition of Black History Month\, we are partnering with the African American Advisory Board (AAAB); an advisory board with the Los Angeles County’s District Attorney’s Office. \nOur very own Executive Director\, Dr. Ramona Merchan\, who serves on the board of the AAAB\, will moderate the joint program\, “Justice for Black Women: Healing\, Hope and Prevention.” This event will highlight the impact of violence against the Black women and girls\, offering stories of not only resilience\, but noting how to prevent violence in our communities through wellness\, and access to resources. This event will be live-streamed\, and we encourage you to attend in person if possible. \nIt will be held on February 27. 2024 at 6:30pm at the Hall Of Justice\, 211 W. Temple St.\, Los Angeles\, CA 90012\nAttendance is not only enriching for the community members present\, but pivotal in amplifying the critical narratives and knowledge shared within these gatherings\, furthering community healing. \nWe are deeply grateful for your unwavering support. Your active involvement and financial contributions have enabled TILA to sustain its operations and deliver valuable resources to the Los Angeles community. As we celebrate our 10th year\, we are eager to broaden our impact and further our vision to create a trauma-informed Los Angeles. DESCRIPTION:The IPV Revolution: The Intersection of IPV and Gun Violence \nIn recognition of Gun Violence Awareness Month\, Trauma Informed Learning Alliance (TILA) is hosting a powerful and timely event on June 12th at Mercado La Paloma in South Los Angeles focused on the intersections of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and Gun Violence. \nThis event will feature a diverse panel of speakers\, including Jewish voices\, as we aim to uplift communities often erased from public health data. Jewish individuals\, for instance\, are frequently forced to check “white” or “other” on the census\, leaving vital data gaps that impact funding\, visibility\, and care. \nAdditionally\, we will discuss disparities for all impacted populations and identify actionable steps to support individuals impacted by gun violence and IPV. \nFollowing the discussion\, we will offer sound healing—a trauma-informed practice to help attendees reflect\, process\, and regulate their nervous systems. \nRefreshments will be served.
