ALEXUS RHONE is a writer, storytelling producer artistic theologian and “Revolutionary Artist” who has written for YA-novels for reluctant reading teens and preteens, and is the co-author of 29 Years for 13 Seconds: The Injustices of Justice, the story of Vance Webster, a man sentenced to life in prison for a crime he witnessed as a teenager while growing up on Los Angeles.
Passionately committed to being a “truth-teller,” Rhone offers a strong, compelling voice to people (young and younger) looking for authenticity and transparency. A member of the Society for Children Book Writers and Illustrators, her debut novel, Premature Pleasures (2001), hit regional Children’s/Young Adult bestseller lists and her sophomore release, Secret Shame (2003), debuted #2 on the Dallas Morning News Bestsellers List and #3 in Essence Magazine (August 2003). Her third teen novel, Backseats and Bleachers: A High School Love Story was released in 2005. The fourth and final project in the Trek Braden-series, Cover the Coo, was released in 2010. She recently completed the stage- adaptation of Premature Pleasures, which opened April 2014, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Since completing her Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Los Angeles, California, Rhone launched Unshackled Productions where she produces page-to-stage and storytelling events around the country, focusing on community-oriented, issues-based theater. Rhone also facilitates training for private-sector and non-profit organizations on how to incorporate effective storytelling into public speaking. She is currently scripting the web-series “The Institution” and producing the documentary “Dedicated Spaces,” profiling spiritual retreat centers around the country.
Rhone holds a Bachelor of Journalism/Public Relations degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
