Raizel Mashood is an American-Bangladeshi undergraduate student at Boston University studying Health Science with a minor in Sociology. With goals of entering medicine, she is interested in combining medical knowledge with holistic, trauma-informed approaches to care through her work with Trauma Informed Learning Alliance (TILA). Watching her grandmother and mother lead the New England Bangladeshi American Foundation (NEBAF), she developed a deep appreciation for nonprofit and community work from an early age – along with an understanding of the passion required to run a nonprofit organization. Her recent work with the American Muslim Multifaith Womens Empowerment Council (AMMWEC) and involvement in a student – led anti – racism cohort called Students Making Change (SMC) in high school drove her interest in supporting people who have experienced trauma, especially due to their race, religion or identity. As an intern, she hopes to deepen her knowledge about trauma-informed approaches while supporting the organizations mission and initiatives.
