JAMALA TAYLOR (He, Him, His) is formerly Incarcerated. He was sentenced to 99 years to Life, spending 15 years in solitary confinement at Pelican Bay State Prison/S.H.U. and 31 years overall in maximum security prisons across the state of California. As a result of the historic hunger strikes of 2013 Jamala would be released from solitary confinement and sent to CSP-LAC (General population) In 2015. He would develop facilitation skills by leading programs like Narcotics Anonymous, Criminal Gang Members anonymous, Domestic violence, etc. He would also become a participant of (IGP) insightgardenprogram.org while incarcerated at CSP-LAC. Today, Jamala is the Reentry Manager for the very same Insight Garden program, he spends his days and more than a few nights helping people, with an emphasis on women and kids, connect to services and support as they reenter society. Jamala is a revolutionary working for the liberation and just treatment of the incarcerated, formerly incarcerated and poor people. He has committed his life to combating exploitation, oppression and making a positive and impactful contribution to the world. Jamala is a certified Life Coach. He is currently enrolled at CSU-Fullerton in the online Sociology program where he is Completing his BA.
